Some aluminum products may be recycled, although anyone would have to throw in a stack of aluminum foil covered in pizza sauce and cheese to know that this can be difficult to recycle. Luckily, chemists in Ireland have a way to do this. With a new way to recycle aluminum from dirty foil, they are producing a product that is cheaper and higher quality than what is currently on the market. Of course, aluminum is used much more than it is consumed. Cans, cars, even my laptop are all made of aluminum. Giant compounds are used as catalysts in chemical reactions to produce elemental sulfur and various hydrocarbons, which can be used as raw materials for manufacturing plastics, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, rubber products, etc.
