In foil rolling, in addition to cooling and lubricating the rolling oil, its pressure resistance has a great influence on the rolling reduction of the foil. Under normal circumstances, the pressure resistance of lubricating oil is good. The pass processing rate is large, otherwise the pass processing rate will be reduced.

Our factory uses a low-viscosity base oil MOA-80 for both roughing and finishing rolling, and adjusts the content of additives to meet the different process requirements of roughing and finishing rolling. This is more convenient from the perspective of rolling oil management. The selected base oil indicators are as follows in Table 5:

Rolling oil additives mainly use esters and alcohols with a small amount of acid added to achieve the best results for the rolling oil. Because the reduction in the four passes to produce double-zero finished products is larger, the additive content is higher than that in five passes of rolling. The amount of alcohol added is generally 2% to 5% of the base oil, and the amount of ester added is 1% to 3% of the base oil. When the ester content is too low, the rolling resistance will occur; when it is too high, oil spots may easily occur after annealing.
