Aluminum alloys for automobiles are mainly divided into two categories: cast aluminum alloys and deformed aluminum alloys. Cast aluminum alloys occupy a dominant position in automobile manufacturing, accounting for 77% of the total. Cast aluminum alloy is mainly used in "three electric systems", including power batteries, drive motors and electronic control systems. Deformed aluminum alloys are mainly used for body system components, heat exchanger system components and stamped wheels. The traditional die-cast aluminum alloy AlSi10MnMg is a high-strength and toughness die-cast aluminum alloy that is widely used in vacuum die-cast structural parts of automobile bodies.

This alloy solves the mold sticking problem by controlling the iron content and increasing the manganese content. At the same time, by adjusting the magnesium element and heat treatment process, the mechanical properties of die casting materials with different strength and toughness matching can be obtained. It is characterized by a low Fe/Mn ratio, which promotes the precipitated phase to appear in the shape of Chinese characters, stars or polyhedrons, avoiding the formation of flaky β-AlFeSi phases, thus ensuring good toughness.
