Aluminium 5083 is known for its excellent performance in extreme environments. 5083 is highly resistant to attack by seawater and industrial chemical environments. 5083 also maintains excellent strength after welding. It has the highest strength among non-heat-treatable alloys, but it is not recommended for use at temperatures above 65°C.

5083-H116 aluminum plate is a high magnesium alloy with good strength, corrosion resistance and machinability among non-heat-treatable alloys. The surface beauty of the aluminum plate increases after anodizing.

Good arc welding performance. The main alloying element in 5083-H116 aluminum plate is magnesium, which has good corrosion resistance and weldability, as well as medium strength.

Excellent corrosion resistance makes 5083 alloy widely used in maritime applications such as ships, as well as automobiles, aircraft welded parts, subway light rail, pressure vessels that require strict fire protection (such as liquid tankers, refrigerated trucks, refrigerated containers), refrigeration equipment, TV towers, drilling equipment, transportation equipment, missile parts, armor, etc.

Aluminum Plate 5083 H116 applies to products made from 5xxx series alloys with a nominal magnesium content of 3% or more. Products are normally strain hardened in a finishing process to achieve the specified stable tensile property limits and to achieve the specified corrosion resistance levels in accelerated corrosion tests. They are suitable for continuous service temperatures not exceeding 150°F (66°C). Corrosion tests include intergranular and exfoliation corrosion.

Ships need to undergo cold and hot processing during construction, so marine aluminum alloys need to be easy to process and form, and no cracking defects should occur during processing. 5083 H116 aluminum plate can well meet the performance requirements of shipbuilding.
