What Are the Characteristics of 6061?

6061 aluminum is well-known for its exceptional durability, workability, machinability, and toughness. Not only that, but 6061 is naturally corrosion-resistant. It is also well-known for its versatility in applications across a wide range of industries. What Are the Characteristics of 7075?

Common Applications for 6061 Aluminum

6061 aluminum is referred to as "structural" aluminum due to its workability. Common Applications for 7075 Aluminum

When steel is too heavy yet an application demands strength, the most frequent substitute is 7075 T651 plate. Alloy 7075 offers a substantially higher strength-to-weight ratio than steel. With 196 kn-m/kg, 7075 possesses the high strength and lightweight qualities needed for a variety of industries, most notably aviation, automotive, and weapons. In 1936, 7075 was the response to issues like "How do we improve fuel efficiency of our aircraft?" and "How do we lighten the aircraft while still keeping it strong enough to handle complex maneuvers?"
