98% of the world's bauxite reserves are concentrated in developing countries and Australia. Among them, Guinea and Australia rank high in bauxite reserves and production. As of 2021, the top countries in global bauxite production are Australia (26%), China (22%), Guinea (22%), Brazil (8%), India (6%), Indonesia (5%), Russia (2%), Jamaica (1%), Vietnam (1%).

China's bauxite ranks seventh in the world, but its bauxite output is equivalent to Guinea, tied for second. China's static mining life is only 8.7 years. Domestic bauxite production far exceeds reserves. China's bauxite is overloaded and overdrawn. The top ten bauxite companies in the world account for half of the bauxite supply.
