Corrosion Resistance: Thanks to its excellent anodizing capability, 6063 offers superior corrosion resistance. Anodizing thickens the surface oxide layer, protecting the aluminum from further corrosion. It also provides a uniform, attractive finish and allows color pigments to be incorporated, which do not chip like paint.
Workability: Aluminum 6063 is considered a "softer" alloy, making it highly workable for extrusion and forming. Its low concentration of other elements contributes to easy shaping. However, being heat-treatable, annealing and complex shaping may be more challenging compared to non-heat-treatable alloys.

6061 aluminum is stronger and more reliable, making it ideal for structural and load-bearing applications in construction and other industries. While it does not anodize as effectively as 6063, it still offers good corrosion resistance and is sufficiently workable for many extrusion applications.

Notably, 6061 contains a higher proportion of magnesium silicide, optimizing it for heat treatment and strength enhancement.
Tensile Strength: Aluminum 6061 has a robust tensile strength of 290 MPa (42,060 psi), making it ideal for structural applications that require high strength-to-weight ratios, such as in aerospace components.
Corrosion Resistance: While not as corrosion-resistant as 6063, 6061's higher chromium content provides adequate protection. The formation of a stable oxide layer enhances its corrosion resistance over time.
