A variety of manufacturing mills offer flat rolled plate made of alloy 5083, a non-heat-treatable alloy consisting of 4½ percent magnesium, 0.15% chromium, and 0.7% manganese. Like all the high magnesium alloys in the 5000 series, 5083 is cold worked to a high strength, allowing for a number of "H" tempers.
TEMPER TYPES
5083 is available in many different tempers:
O-Soft
During following processes like stretching or leveling, H111 is annealed and mildly strain-hardened (less than H11).
H112: This pertains to alloys that undergo shaping procedures without specific control over the degree of heat treatment or strain-hardening, yet for which there are limitations in their mechanical properties.
H116: This refers to aluminum-magnesium alloys that have a magnesium concentration of 4% or higher and that have restrictions on their mechanical properties and resistance to exfoliation and corrosion.
H32: Work is quarter-hard after being stabilized by low-temperature heat treatment after being rolled hard.
Alloys that have less strain-hardened than what is necessary for a regulated H32 temper are covered by H321.
H36: 3/4 hard, strain-hardened, and stabilized.

Additionally, after welding, alloy 5083 maintains its remarkable strength. Although it is not advised for usage at temperatures higher than 65°C, it is the strongest of the non-heat-treatable alloys.
