Aluminum alloy is widely used in many fields due to its unique physical and chemical properties. Since the introduction of aluminum door and window profiles in China in the 1980s, aluminum alloy profiles have gradually replaced traditional wood and copper materials, solving the problem of corrosion resistance and durability.
With the popularity of "narrow frame" windows and doors, higher strength and hardness aluminum alloy profiles have become the first choice for minimalist narrow system windows. Especially in the desert, coastal and other harsh applications, a higher standard of aluminum alloy profiles is particularly important to the safety and design of windows and doors.
Take the 6063-T5 profile commonly found on the market as an example, what are the performance differences between it and the 6060-T6 profile selected by Bakelite R&D Center? Let's find out.
Higher strength
Strength indicators mainly include tensile strength and yield strength, which directly affect the performance of windows and doors in high typhoon locations and high building design, such as wind pressure resistance and load bearing, etc. The tensile and yield strength of 6060-T6 profile is up to 190MPa and 140MPa respectively, while the tensile and yield strength of 6063-T5 profile is 160MPa and 120MPa. this means that 6060-T6 profile is able to withstand a higher level of wind pressure, which means that 6060-T6 profile is able to withstand a higher level of wind pressure. -T6 profile can withstand stronger storms, is not easy to deform and damage, provides more solid structural support, to ensure the overall safety and durability of doors and windows.
Outstanding corrosion resistance
The level of corrosion resistance directly affects the service life of windows and doors when they are subjected to wind and rain erosion and whether they open and close smoothly in the daily home experience. The addition of silicon can improve the fluidity and heat resistance of the alloy, and the solid solution treatment can make the elements in the alloy more evenly distributed in the matrix, which helps to form a more stable alloy structure and further improve its corrosion resistance. 6060-T6 profile has a silicon content of 0.3-0.6%, while 6063-T5 profile has a silicon content of 0.2-0.6%. In addition, profile 6060-T6 is treated with solid solution treatment, while profile 6063-T5 is not treated with solid solution treatment.
