① Composition and basic properties
6061 aluminium angle bar has magnesium (0.8%-1.2%) and silicon (0.4%-0.8%) as core alloy elements, and achieves a tensile strength of more than 290MPa through T6 heat treatment, with high rigidity characteristics; 6063 aluminium angle bar has a slightly lower magnesium and silicon content (magnesium 0.8%-1.0%, silicon 0.2%-0.6%), better extrusion molding performance, higher surface finish, but slightly weaker strength (tensile strength of about 150-240MPa).
② Corrosion resistance and surface treatment
Both are suitable for anodizing, but 6063 l channel aluminium has a uniform and delicate film after anodizing, and better matte/glossy effect, and is widely used in highly decorative scenes such as building curtain walls and lamp frames; 6061 l channel aluminium has a strong bonding force, but the surface is prone to extrusion lines, and is more used in industrial equipment frames, load-bearing brackets and other fields that require strength rather than beauty.
③ Differences in processing adaptability
6063 aluminum l channel for commercial use has better ductility and can be extruded into complex cross-section shapes (such as multi-cavity structures). It has a low rebound rate when bent and is suitable for fine processing requirements such as door and window sealing strips and decorative lines. 6061 aluminum l channel for commercial use has significant cold working hardening characteristics and high strength retention after bending, making it more suitable for scenarios that require impact resistance, such as new energy vehicle battery trays and mechanical load-bearing angle parts.
④ Industry application priority
6063 aluminium edging strip advantage areas: building door and window closing strips, advertising light box frames, furniture decorative edging and other lightweight and high-value scenarios; 6061 aluminium edging strip core scenarios: rail transit carriage frames, automation equipment brackets, photovoltaic module frames and other high-strength structural parts.
Common value and selection suggestions
Both are recyclable materials, but 6063 aluminium 90 degree angle has 15%-20% lower processing energy consumption, which is more in line with LEED green building certification requirements. When selecting a model, you need to have clear priorities: if you are looking for surface texture and complex shape, 6063 aluminium 90 degree angle is the first choice; if it needs to withstand dynamic loads or welding assembly, 6061 aluminium 90 degree angle is more reliable.
