Characteristics of 3003 Aluminum Alloy
3003 aluminum alloy is a wrought alu-manganese alloy (3000 or 3xxx series). It can be cold worked (but unlike other types of aluminum alloys, it cannot be heat treated) to achieve higher strength but lower ductility. Like most other alu-manganese alloys, 3003 is a general-purpose alloy with medium strength, good workability, and corrosion resistance. It is commonly used for rolling and extrusion but is generally not used for forging. As a wrought alloy, it is not used for casting. It is also commonly found in sheet metal applications such as sinks, downspouts, roofing, and siding.
