Lithium-ion battery manufacturers use laminated aluminum films to form packaging for pouch batteries. This is a material made from aluminum foil sandwiched between layers of polymers such as PET, PA and CPP.
The trend in battery technology is to produce higher power while reducing weight and size. Supplied in rolls with widths up to 520mm, our laminated foils are available in thick sizes for use in larger batteries such as electric vehicle applications, but also in very thin sizes for use in consumer electronics applications where , reducing weight and size is very important.
Pouch cell is a type of battery design which is simple, flexible and lightweight. Compared with other battery design, pouch cell has the best packing efficiency, 90~95%. Moisture is one of key factor which shorten cell life. This aluminum laminated film (113 μm) is widely used as pouch cell casing material due to its low moisture transmission rate.
